Visible Mending/Clothing Embroidery Embellishments

Join Ruby Sowder of Sassafras Mending to learn practical sewing and up-cycling skills to keep clothes out of the waste stream and to create a unique and practical wardrobe. Mending and up-cycling are an excellent and accessible way to combat fast fashion and create a better future. Ruby is a rising sophomore at Camden Hills Regional High School and has been sewing since she could hold a needle. She started Sassafras Mending three years ago to address the issue of fast fashion and clothing waste. She is passionate about addressing the issues of climate change and fast fashion and has reached many people through her mending services as well as educational outreach. Ruby also studies violin and plays hockey and ultimate frisbee. Join us for an hour and a half of instruction, hands-on work, and practical skills.
